When i encoded DVD's into SVCD's i use the program DVD2SVCD. When all the encoding is finished and it is time for burning i have been using the mpeg files and just been placing them in the create SVCD of Nero. I have just recently discovered that you can use the bin/ cue files generated. Is there any advantages or disadvantages in using the bin/cue files when burning.......or would i just get the same results as using the mpeg file to create the svcd? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A cue/bin file is a cd image file that is used by the cd software CDRWIN (Golden Hawk Technologies).

It will offer no improvement in quality, just a ready to burn file with no settings to set.

  3. To create bin/cue file compare to burn in Nero, cdrwin will not improve your quality but can add more funtions (motion menu and chapters) and prevent some problems that might occure in Nero (FF/RW).

So if you really new into this VCD/SVCD world, Nero is the way to go. But for others who get bored with simple vcd/svcd, they might go on creating bin/cue file route.
