Nero 5.5.96 , well it's out there somewhere also seen 5.5.94

    Main site says 5.5.90 ?

  2. Yeah, I've seen it around also, but it's only a beta version. I wouldn't bother getting it yet. There is also a winmx 3.29 beta out.

Well I have it, and it works just fine, and does not suggest its beta

  4. Ok, King John. Good for you. I think I'll wait till its' on their site before I get it. I just don't trust my programs in a hand of a beta.

  6. Quick Question about Nero.......

Why does everyone immediately download the latest version of it every 3 weeks or so then mess about installing it when the previous version worked just fine.

Can you tell me what the difference is between the last 15 versions of Nero 5?

I know people are going to come back and go Bug Fix this and that but be honest, have you ever seen these 'bug fixes' do anything?

Not trying to have a go but this has allways made me wonder.

Well at one time there was no DVD burning, or the Nero Toolkit for drive tests, and every time a new burner is made, Nero might not work with it, and since we can get a free update "Why not"

  8. I can understand it when there is a major addition like DVD Burning and the Toolkit but what I cannot understand is all the releases inbetween that make absoloutely no difference.

"Oh look........They changed the code and added an extra { in there......It moves the burn icon to the right a couple of pixels so it looks better.......I must get this new version."

I'm still using the same version I had months ago and untill I need to do something that this version won't do then I have no plans on messing with it.
    5.5.7.2.

    Each to their own though..........

Then you will never know if someone can do something you can't
Like convert a DivX 3.11 Alpha with AC3 audio, without making a coaster

  10. Why would anyone use Nero to do any kind of conversions? I tried it's SVCD function and to tell the truth, the result was abysmal. Don't get me wrong, Nero is great for a lot of things, but conversions ain't one of them.

You need to go to Nero to see what, But this is what I can see as the diffrence

    5.5.9.0
    5.5.9.1
    5.5.9.2
    5.5.9.3
    5.5.9.4
    5.5.9.5
    5.5.9.6

As you can see clearly there is a difference with the number at the end

What have the Romans ever done for us ?

  15. i was kinda wondering this myself.. i've never noticed any of the nero bugs, and i've been using it since early version 4.. i imagine a significant reason they update it so frequently is to battle keygens & serials.. but then again, i'm not even sure if the last 5.5.9.x versions wouldnt all work with the same keys..

As a DVD burner I've noticed ALOT of nero bugs, and so I update everytime. Also since I actually have a non hacked version I might as well upgrade the thing whenever possible, then when the free upgrades run out and I end up trying something new and or get a new burner I won't regret it later.

Besides, my install takes seconds and so does the download...mmm cable.

  17. I have cable as well but just can't see the point.....

Downloading it aint a problem but as far as I can see there is no point in fixing something that isn't broken...

All software by its very nature is broken... I like to have the least broken I can get... does that explain it?
    Quote Quote
  21. Not really.....

If it was broken then it wouldn't work.

Mine works perfectly and I have no need to fix it.

Well you carry on with the old one, I wonder why you charged to XP then ? did the old Windows brake down ?
    Quote Quote
  23. No.......The old windows as it is was Windows ME.

Windows XP is a radically different O/S.
ME crashed on me every few hours.
XP was not a bug fix for ME was it now.

Read it all again from the top and you will see that I allready said I can accept a new release for something major in Nero like DVD Burning or the Toolkit.

Then I would expect myself to upgrade nero if I needed to...

How can you possibly compare the upgrade from ME to XP with installing all the new releases of Nero.

    Silly person......

  25. I last updated Windows about 3 months ago.
I find that it creates more problems than it fixes.

So no.......I don't really use M/S Update either.

My PC is running fine thanks....

Also as a DVD burner there have been ALOT of fixes lately for us... and thats yet ANOTHER reason I update NERO when a new version is out. If it wasn't worth getting then the wouldn't update it. Just because you havne't ran into a problem doesn't mean its not there and doesn't mean you won't run into it tomarrow. Does that make better sense?
    Quote Quote
  27. Makes perfect sense m8.

Obviously some people will benefit from it somewhere but you look around all the people you know.

Nearly all my mates are into PC's and nearly all of them have burners.

    And all their friends too......

    Now......

Some of these are into movies.......
    Some apps and some MP3.

Yet nearly ALL of them jump on a new version of Nero as soon as it is spotted.

    YaY.......I have the new version......

Well that's just peachy..What are you using it for....

Same thing....Backing up stuff I downloaded....

Great....Nero did that no problem anyway.

    Whats the point........
