  1. I haven't been able to get a good clean MUX after a number of tries. I'm still a newbie so the terminal window is pretty much greek to me (see below.) iTunes lays the audio portion OK, not sure how to look at the mpv file. One note, MediaPipe never seemed to close up properly, it said "wait (blah, blah) and never changed even after a couple hours.

Help, still looking for my first successful svcd.

  3. In both of the above post the video bit-rate "INFO: Bit rate : 3000000 bits/sec". This is higher than the standards allow. However, most newer players will support higher rates. Therefore, the latest version of MMT now has a "User VCD/SVCD" check box. This allows you to force it to multiplex a non-compliant bit-rate. This feature is also usefull when adding a second audio stream or larger resolution sizes that may run the muxed bit-rate out of spec.

  4. All is well now. Funny, when I follow your directions, EXACTLY and excercise a little patience, it works as advertised. I'm 3 for 3 since I got things rolling. I'm still running the high bit rate, basically using all the defaults. I think I may not have waited for the encoding to wrap up at first, and it seems like I need to shut down the terminal program occasionally to "clean things up" after I start experimenting.

To the other newbies out there, don't be intimidated by what at first looks overly complex. Get the developer tools (buy the cd if you can't dl a 200+ meg file) and just step thru the RNC procedures. I actually understand much of what is going on after just a few burns. Fun really.

Never would have got this far this fast without this forum. Thanks guys.
