  1. On another topic I was advised to Frameserve my DV through VirtualDub into TMPGEnc to encode to (x)vcd rather than create a separate edited DV file. So, I downloaded VirtualDub and found that my DV files recorded through a Canopus ADVC-50 card is not readable by VirtualDub.

Can anyone pass on any information on any way round this, or while using the Canopus Codec am I not able to use VirtualDub? (I am aware I can not capture using VirtualDub while using a Canopus card)

    Thanks.

  2. I also use the Canopus ADVC-50 and Virtualdub, and it works fine. However, I always record DV type 2, and not type 1 or native Canopus format.

  3. Sorry Skittelson, but could you enlarge on how to make the settings. Are you making these settings in VirtualDub or somewhere else?

I am also unable to open any current DV file recorded using the Canopus card in VirtualDub.

use the free canopus dv file convertor to change your already captured files ... its in the tools section i believe. you can also load the panasonic freeware dv codec to do the same thing -- unless you are using premiere , vegas or have purchased the canopus or main concept dv codec ..

otherwise do as skittelsen says ..

  5. Yes, to use your already captured files, you will need to convert them to Type 2. Look for a DV file converter in the Tools section on this web site.

I use ScLive capture program to capture my DV files, and select the DV type 2 format as the capture format.

  6. You can also capture type 2 DV avi files with DVIO or DVApp (freewares).
