  1. Does anyone know how to fix the problem of distorted sound when using the ATI All In Wonder Radeon 7500 card? I capture video from my vcr using the mmc of ATI- TV composite, and the sound on the captured file plays back with noise in the background. ATI's website says they are aware of this problem and they have been working on it for over three months now. Has anyone found a solution to this problem???

  2. go to the windows volume controls and set the RECORDING level for the card 's input that you're using "line-in", "aux", or whatever, to about the second notch from the bottom. the problem is too much gain, that's all. you get a lot of clipping. the record and playback volumes are separate, and the tv player sends the playback signal to the speakers, so what you hear is not what you record.

also, note that you have to make these changes while MMC is ON, because it swaps out its own saved recording levels for windows' defaults when you start it and puts them back after you close it.

in the registry, there's a ket about "Volume" in one of the ATI sections, and it should be set to 128, not the default of 400 or whatever it is.

  3. Thank you Thank you Thankyou, a thousand thank yous to you. Adjusting the volume control reduced the distortion when playing back the file in ATI's file player, and almost totally eliminated it when using windows media player to playback. (at least on the one tape I have tried to record since making the adjustments). You mention a registry and a Ket about volume default. could you please explain this?? I do not know what you are refering to. Thanks again.
