How to burn DVD-R at 2X using Nero?

I'm trying to burn DVD-Rs at 2X on my Pioneer DVR-104 using Nero 5.5.9.0. Other software allows me to burn at 2X, but the option isn't even listed in Nero. Only 1X shows up the the menu.

with nero, the 2x will only show up if it spins up the disc and determines it to be 2x media. (in my experience)

Thank you, I have been using cheap media. What other burning software would you recomend that would allow me to burn at 2X and has simular features to Nero? The only other burning software that I have is something called RecordNow (which came with the drive) and it seems to be quite buggy and lacking in options. But, it does allow me to burn at 2X with my media.

Why are you trying to burn a 1X disk at 2X? This is nothing but a recipe for disaster. Believe me, if the disk maker could put 2X on their disk, then they would have. Your disks are 1X for a reason.
