  1. Yeah, I'm still squeezing the last ounce of life out of this old card. It ran great on the older Celeron 600 with Win98. Now I've got a XP Athlon still using the same Win98 and a bigger hard-drive. I'm using the same Win98 Buz driver and updated DirectX.

The problem is that the overlay in Buz won't work properly. All I get is a freeze frame unless I select a menu then I can see the video playing in the background. Audio/video capture seems okay and I'm not dropping frames using the hardware MJPEG or PicVideo MJEG codecs.

It seems to be a directdraw problem, since the card is supposed to stream the video directly to the videocard during overlay. I even tried a different (and more powerful) videocard, without any luck.

I'm wondering if the Buz can't handle a 100 or 133 bus speed? I've tried both on the motherboard settings without a change.

  2. I thought I was the only one left with a Buz.
Mine is working better than never!
It's working next to a new AverTVStudio and a OHCI firewire adapter on my new Compaq Presario 7112LA (Check my configuration).
I had to install Win ME just for the BUZ. XP Pro works fine for the other cards.
I don't have the overlay problem, but I installed newer drivers from allbuz.com
It still gives the best results, even better than the DC30+ I just sold.

  3. Figured it out. I had to "disable write-behind cache for all drives" in the system performance settings.

I like using the Buz to capture TV shows using the hardware MJPEG. The fact it isn't bothered by macrovision also makes it handy.
