  1. I have downloaded a movie in Dvix format. It plays fine with win media player and WinDvd 4.0, but I can't get TMPGnc to work. Just get a blank screen. My question is if it plays ok with win media and WinDvd does this mean that I have the correct codecs loaded? Thanks for any help.

    try this:
under OPTIONS -> Enviromental setting -> VFLAPI Plug-in, right click the direct show reader, and increase priority until it is the highest
    might do the trick
are you doing 2 pass vbr? if so, you will see no video at all until after the first pass is entirely finished
what are you askin' me for...
    I'm an idiot!

  3. Thanks for the help fantomloar. I'm so new at this I don't know if I'm doing a 2 pass vrb or not? I just use the menu that comes up with TMPGnc and follow the directions from there. I have been able to make some movies that are not divx format. 'm give the adjustments a shot.
