  1. Hey all,

Has anyone tried this drive w/ the Linux burning software cdrecord-ProDVD on DVD-Rs?

I have a ISO that will burn fine on a regular CDR, but if I try DVD it crashes about 60 percent through the burn. I've tried twice and it always dies in the same place. This is using Imation DVD-Rs. I'm going to try to find some TDKs today... I'm just hoping my new drive isn't hosed!

    Thanks,
    Jon

  2. Just a follow up -- I had a chance to get to Frys today. I'm happy to report my drive isn't hosed

I grabed some TDK DVD-Rs, some weird no-name brand (GC -- great quality) DVD-Rs and a pioneer DVD-RW. Each one worked great the first time using the latest cdrecord-ProDVD. So, I guess those Imations just sucked. They said they met V2.0 of the general specs... yeah...

Oh, the image was a hybrid image (built for both Macs and PC using HFS/ISO9660/Joliet. I didn't try anything else because those are the only images we use here. And, the image burnt fine our old Mac/Toast software. Maybe those Imations work fine for regular ISO files; useless for me.

    Thanks again,
    Jon
