Sony Dvd Player

My Friend's house is the hang out for me and my friends and we like to watch movies yet his sony DAV-S300 does not play cd-r vcd's or svcd it just can't read them i guess, it says "no disc" on the lcd. And all the movies i make are on cd-r's can someone tell me how to make them work? it reads cdrw but we dont get 80 cdrw's around here, and i dont want to burn them on cdrwhttp://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/ss5/home/homeentertainment/dreamsystems/dav-s300.shtml

what kind of cd-r's are you using?? I also have a sony cd player and its VERY fussy on the color of the cd-r's it reads!!!!!any cd-rw will work but it takews alot of fussing around to find a cd-r that will work.

On my sony the only cd-r that works is sony obviously or any other cd with a light(aqua)blue surface. Has to be light blue not dark blue.
