  1. hi,
please forgive if this is not the right place to ask.
I have a DIVX AVI video which is out of audio sync. I loaded it in Virtualdub and it gave me a message like that:
the audio is out of sync blablabla. you have to decompress audio to uncompressed wav and recompress with constant bitrate encoder (bitrate 161.8 +/- 7.7 kbps)
Now i got the part of the uncompressed wav easily through Virtualdub. It is about 700mb.
Now, when i load that wav file into Virtualdub to the original DIVX, the audio is perfectly in sync. So far so good.
But i donīt get the part of recompressing the wav with constant bitrate encoder.
Where can i do that? Can i do it in Virtualdub or do i need a seperate audio tool?
If i need one, which should i get?
and one last thing: i tried to compress the audio in Virtualdub using "windows mediaAudio v1" and "v2" since these are the only compressors in Virtualdub i could find which come close to the suggested bitrate of 161.8.
But when i try to save the AVI i get an error that the conversion is not possible.
Can some kind soul enlighten me?

    many thanks in advance,
    cbarduck

PS: i already seen the two FAQs about handling out of sync audio but they seem only be dealing with problems during AVI to MPG conversion.

You could download nimo codec pack, it includes fraunhof mpeg3 layer and you could then select it as audio compression in virtualdub.

Or use any other wav to mpeg3 converter and then multiplex the avi with the new mpeg3 www.vcdhelp.com/faq#multiplex

  3. o cool, thanx i understand now
i think i will try with the second alternative you described.
I try to keep nimo codec pack away from my system.
When i install it it f**cks up avi and mpg display from the internet. This means i open an Avi or mpg from the internet but mediaplayer pauses for a couple of minutes before it plays the video. This happens although the file has been 100% loaded.
After removing Nimo the problem disappeared.

Can you recommend any wav to mpeg3 converter?

    thanks again
