    Hello all.

Lately, I've been trimming/splitting the video files on my PC using Boilsoft's Video Splitter. Occasionally I'll get a prompt that says:

    "VBR Audio Stream Detected"

"The source AVI file is encoded with an improper VBR audio.
The video and audio stream of the splitted file may be not sync if split directly,
so we recommend you to recompress the *entire* audio stream first."

"Do you want to compress the audio stream?"

After selecting the "yes" option, the video splitter recompresses the audio stream and then I'm able to split the video file.

However, I've encountered one video file, that after opening it in the splitter and clicking the "yes" option in the audio recompression prompt, the recompression progress window opens as if it's beginning to start and then for some reason the recompression progress window quickly closes before it even reaches 1%.

I've looked in other sections of the forum and didn't have any luck finding related info.

    Any advice/suggestions are appreciated.

Try avidemux instead. It handles vbr audio pretty well without any recompressing. Just set the start and stop and save that clip. Or if you want to delete stuff like commercials set the start and stop and press delete and last save the clip.
