3. I've worked with "MissingMenuGen" but it creates chapters with more than one mov and occurs a pause between movs.
I want to create a chapter seamlessly flows onto the next with no pause or skip of any kind. I'm working on a Macintosh and I need a software to X or 9.2
Thanks

4. Give this a try:

Open MMG
Select VCD (or SVCD)
Set Chapter breaks (Entry Points) as desired
Remember, MMG does not know how long your movie is, so you will need to tell it the "total minutes" or wherever you want the entry points to stop.
Add you mpg clip
Leave all other options at default
Click the movie clip in the main window, then click Update
Press GenMenu to build the xml
Use vcdxbuild function in MMT to make disk image track or cue/bin for Toast or you can use GNU vcdtoolsX
Remember, if you use image tracks discard the TOC and pre_gap, only add the numbered track in sequencal order.

There could be a problem if your county localized OS uses a comma instead of a period as a decimal separator. (let me know if there is)

In the xml file you will find something like this:

<sequence-items>
<sequence-item src="/Users/rc/Desktop/movie-1.mpg" id="sequence-0">

0.000

120.000

240.000

360.000

</sequence-item>
</sequence-items>

Note: Only one sequence item with entry id every 2 minutes for a 8 min clip. Remember, if you edit this file, it must be saved a plain text, not rich text format.

5. I am having problems creating VCDs with seamless tracks. It's easy enough to make multiple tracks with multiple files but there is a pause switching between tracks. I attempted to use MissingMenuGen using the procedure outlined above but that did not seem to produce any tracks at all. (My DVD player shows it as only one track, hitting next or previous just stops playback.)

On another note, does anyone know how to generate VCDs that will allow the VCD player to show the time index? If I burn one with toast (using an mpeg file it likes) then the time index shows on my dvd player (pioneer dvl-919) but making a vcd using missingmpegtools with various settings produces a vcd that doesn't actually give this information.

6. I having the same problem. My DVD is the Pioneer DV-444 and the MissingMenuGen didn't work to produce a VCD with chapters

7. Hmm, so perhaps this is a player specific issue? I can try it out on a friend's sony player at some point.

If I can generate VCDs that at least have the time codes in it so I can jump to a specific point that would be fine, but so far I've only been able to do that with toast and mpeg files, not generating images with MMtools.

9. I followed the same MissingMenuGen instructions as above but do not get the FForward type chapters I do with a DVD. I use an Apex AP-1100W to watch the VCDs. I've tried using both VCDToolsX 1.0 and MissingMpegTools to create the VCDs after the MMG created xml file.

If we can figure out a surefire way to to this, it would be awesome. Any ideas?

10. I suggest to also give a look at VCD Builder.

11. MissingMenuGen update:

Got my DVD player to play the chapters as described above. However, this only works once. That is, I need to press MENU on the remote control followed by the chapter number on the keypad. You can't just press Next, FF, or type the chapter number afterwards. And once it starts playing at the Chapter entrypoint, you can't do it again without stopping the VCD.

It's very likely that this is just a limitation on my DVD player (APex AP-1100W) or its remote control. I'll keep tinkering.

Also, I tried VCD Builder but it offers no options for chapters. I did play with VCDEasy on my Vaio which had the chapter feature built in. Too bad it's PC.

X.
