  1. I have just purchased a PCTV PCI Card from Pinnacle Systems. I am running a XP1800 with a ASUS A7A266-E running Windows XP. the hardware installed fine ut when I ran the assistant to check the system if fell over when checking the device. It said the the IRQ may not be set or there was clash. I check the device manager and there was not clash, but I removed the modem card and moved the PCTV card into the modem slot. When I rebooted the card had moved to IRQ 5 (modem) but still would not work. Went on the pinnacle web site and download the lastest version 5.1 (?), but when I went to install it it said I was alread on that version. Installed PPE from there web site but does not work. The PCTV vision software loads the first time but then stops after trying to scan the channels. If I try to load the program again I get the send error to microsoft.
Sorry for going on but I do not known which part is important.

    Any help would be great.

  2. Might have an IRQ sharing problem. Always use newst BIOS...(ASUS.com.tw)

Go into BIOS and disable everything you don't use, like com ports, LPT ports and maybe even (2nds) USB ports, this will free up resources.

Make sure to use most recent drivers for your chipset (VIA ??)..

Go to the pnp section of bios and select reset configuration data.

Run win XP and see how it reorders the IRQ's.

    Try if it works.

If it's still sharing...move the card thru diffect PCI slots.

If this doesn't work...go to PNP config in BIOS and disable PNP compatible OS.

Run WIN XP...you should be able to move some IRQ assignments manually.

    Try if it works.

You may also try to use some generic BT-8x8 chipset drivers for your PC-TV and see if it works with Virtualdub. 5.1 is newset pinnacle driver version.

If this doesn't work...try disableing everything you do use...like AUDIO card, all USB ports...LAN/NETWORK controllers..and 2nd channel IDE (no cdroms available after that)

This should almost make IRQ conflict or sharing impossible or unnessesary.

First do a BIOS update...Use latest mainboard chipset drivers...after that try the rest... If this still doesn't work try reinstalling win-XP.

    If this doensn't work...try a different PC.

If this doesn't work the card may be defective, you should try to exchange it, or make the shop install it..

    Greetz..

    Mike.

  4. I would suggest assigning a different IRQ setting. My PCTV pro card ended up working using IRQ 7 after I assigned it in the BIOS. (Although my Asus M/B system is Intel based & I'm a Win 98 user). You can always switch the printer to share the Soundblaster live Dos driver.
