Last June I purchased a Pioneer DVDR-104. The unit has been working well until recently. After upgrading my computer to Windows XP and upgrading the firmware to v1.20 RPC-1 to make the drive region free, the unit doesn’t recognize any kind of DVD-RW or silver DVD-R, even the ones recorded with this same recorder. I tried the unit in other computers using different OS with the same result: it only works as a CDRW recorder and a DVD Player (with purchased movies), but it won’t record any DVD and it won’t even recognize most DVD-Rs.
Any suggestion?

yeah, repost your question here:

and many DVR-104 users can give you more suggestions.
As of me, I'm wondering if you restored to the RPC2 firmware.....would that actually do anything??
Speaking of RPC1, I started with the RPC2 1.20 firmware and after I made it RPC1, DVD-R burning still works.....
Just never tried DVD-RW yet because they are too expensive.
