I use Virtualdub to extract sound from .avi files so that I can use it when encoding mpeg2 files. I have so far used it successfully, but have recently encountered a problem. When I try to save as a .waw file I get a message saying “ the requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format. Check that the sampling rate and channel count ……..” I am doing everything as I have always done. The only reason I can come up with, is that when I check file information (after opening the .avi file) it says “unknown (tag 2000)” under audio compression, instead of “Fraunhofer ISS MPEG Layer-3 Codec” as it normally does when it works. Is there anything I can do to successfully extract the audio to a .waw file when this happens (which is more and more often)?
Thank you in advance.
