Smart Ripper

I am trying to figure out how to make a backup copy of a dvd that I already have. I followed the instructions(I think the right ones) and saw where you are supposed to download Smart Ripper. So I clicked on the link and the link didn't work. So, I searched for it on my own and found it. When I got to the site it said it was illegal to have it in the US. So...how can I make a copy of my DVDs? How does everyone else do it? Or do they just do it illegally?

Sorry, if this is a really dumb question. I really did look around and things.

If you want to keep strictly legal, you had better never make a copy of any copyright material. 8)

No-one is going to bother you for downloading or using Smartripper - unless you start trying to sell what you copy!

I have heard that the FBI are waiting for people to download it, then they run around the persons home (Dressed in black) and they are all called Mr.Smith ?, They confiscate all your equipment, and beat you over the head with a Big Mac, or was that Mr. MAC beats you and Mr. Smith...

Either way.. they take EVERYTHING except your original DVD, cos that's OK to have.

Well its funny, but on www.doo9.org there is no warning before you download, so I guess its okay to dl from there...

Jeez! 95% of downloadable content on the internet is illegal. Just keep a watch through the curtains when you break the law. 8) We do.

You should have no problem making a backup copy of your DvD. It's perfectly legal. It's very typical for them to place that warning on their site, as it covers their butt of any legal action by you or someone else. Almost all software has this or some other type of conditions for the software's use.
