  1. Hi! I have an A-Open 3248 CDRW-Burner and I wanted to burn a VCD (CD-RW) that would be playable on my Panasonic DVD A-160. So far, no luck.

Nero Burning offers 4x as the lowest burning speed. All guides here say, that one should burn a VCD at 1x.

Could that be the problem? Is my drive probably not capable of burning at slower speeds than 4x? If so, is there anything I could do?

    Any help greatly appreciated
    Cheers

  2. hi there, I have the same DVD player and have burned LOADS of VCDs onto RWs at 4x and have never had any problems? It could be the brand that you are using, I found that philips CD-RWs are not always recognised at first...? If this is the case just eject the disc and try again

    good luck

  3. darkobserver,
I've burned from 1x-32x and have found absolutely no differance in quality.
    Q:Is your Panasonic vcd compatible?
Qoes your vcd play on your pc?

  4. Your cd writer will burn at 1x. Use Fireburner, however that might not be your problem. But I would download Fireburner try that and go from there . Cheers

  5. Thank you all for replying! I will hit the stores tomorrow and try to find CD-RWs from different manufacturers.

I own the Panasonic DVD-A160 with the additional two letters "EG" in its model name. I sure hope that this model, that was obviously sold only in Europe is capable of playing CD-RW at all. We'll see...

If you're using high speed (4-10x) CDRWs, they cannot be burned at 1x. Try a chaper 4x CDRW media.

  7. Jippii! It finally worked! I am so happy now.
I bought media from 3 different makers and burned them with speed 2x. My DVD player liked it right away.

Next thing I will try is SVCD asf.

    Thanks again to everybody
