Weird noise problem..

I got a conversion/playback problem, ive captured in huffvuv 2.11 and it looks and sounds normal. But after converting it to Divx 5.02 im having a problem with playing it back. I get this horrible noise, i sounds like metal being destroyed. It doesnt happen at the same points in the video either. Plus the video freezes slightly. If i hear it and go back and try to hear it again its not in the same spot, it moves throughout the video. I tried playing the video back on a my friends computer and it plays fine. Just during playback on my own. Anyone have any ideas? (Im sorry if i posted into wrong forum, but i didnt see one for playback problems...if it is one)

I just wanted to add that i tried out playing some Mpeg 1 vids i captured a couple of weeks ago , that i KNOW are good, and even them are making this skipping/crushing noise. please help
