Radeon 8500 all-in-wonder 128MB to vcd help

Hi, i have the 8500 AIW 128MB and when i watch tv and record in the VCD mode that ATI gives you everything is fine.... the .mpg will play and and looks and sounds good.
now heres the problem i open nero 5.5.9.0 and try to make a vcd and the cd is made correctly it will play flawlessly in my computer but on the stand alone dvd player i have for my tv i get no sound..... whats the problem? also i tried to make a SVCD and that wont even play at ALL in the stand alone dvd player. help me guys i wasted liek 8 cd-r's tonight

I also have a AIW 8500 and use it to capture home videos - here is what I do.

First - capture the video in MPEG2 format. I choose the medium DVD setting to keep the file size down.

Second - use DVD2AVI to convert.

Third - use TMPG to author in VCD/SVCD format.

Fourth - burn to cd using NERO

I've made numerous VCDs using this method with no problems.
