  1. I have tested my latest version of a DVD-R and DVD-RW that I made and various new DVD players are having trouble navigating through the menus of my disc.

When I have a jump programmed to go from one movie to another I can end up waiting from 20 seconds to forever (or a "disc needs cleaning" error code).

I took my projects to circut city and tested them each on a variety of the latest players and some players had almost no trouble at all and others were really struggling.

I don't know what I might have done to cause this...

Do you remember any of the specific brands of DVD players you tested on. I am thinking of getting the Pioneer DVDR drive. I would hate to spend the money if the discs are not going to work on most players.

  3. I just found out that the authoring software may have been the weak link that was causing this problem. I recieved a free upgrade from ReelDVD 2.0 to ReelDVD 2.5 and the problem seems to have taken care of itself.

I'm using the Pioneer DVR-A03 Drive, ReelDVD, and the Matrox RT2500 combination.

My next problem is that I am hearing surround sound effects that I have not put in. There is also a big cliping sound from the surround sound speakers whenever I navigate between chapters. Hopefully this will end up being a easily fixable problem as well.

I will say this about DVD authoring. It has been a difficult climb both financially and technically in reaching for the Hollywood quality DVD standards with DVD-R.
