  1. ok - im trying to put an mpg2 onto dvd using dvdit PE, i created a menu etc.. but i can not open the mpg2 in normal dvd complient mode i have to go into mpeg2 cdvd mode (will this mode be able to play on my set top box? if not how can i get it to?).Then when i come to the burning process (Build>Make DVD folder), it comes back with this error message.. "This project contains files that are not compatible with the DVD format. Sonice DVDit! can convert these files for you. So that you can creat a DVD, your origanl files will remain on your hard disk so you can use them again." then i view or modify conversion settings. Audio conversion > convert all audio to Dolby digital >bitrate 128>channels 2/0 (Stereo)>OK. Then this error> "The DVD volume your about to write to your hard drive is not compatible with set-top DVD players. You can make a cDVD with this volume using a third party application, but you must manually include the cDVD player on the disc." cancel>continue? i need this DVD to play on a set top box. Any help will be really appricative, as i am a newbie to this dvd making if you need anymore info please tell me.

    I'm guessing here, but I suspect that your MPG2 video is either encoded at too high of a bitrate, or (more probable) it is at the wrong resolution.

    DVD video cannot exceed 9.8Mbps.
    Legal DVD resolutions are:
    720x480
    704x480
    352x480 (for PAL change 480 to 576)

    Legal framerates are:
    24fps
    29.97fps (25fps for PAL)

    So tell us... which part of the spec do you not meet?

  3. DVD video cannot exceed 9.8Mbps?? how do i find this out ?

    FPS = 29.97
    Resolution= 480X480

    and i think i just solved my own question with a bit of help ? is it because it is 480X480? if so how do i resize it ?
