  1. I recently dl a .avi file that had an annoying logo on the bottom portion of the screen. I used the "fill filter" in VirtualDub (quickest and best way to eliminate the logo in my experience), but when I save the new .avi, there seems to be a "wave" of purple blockiness that fades in and out. Wondering if there's a way around this

Have seen this if you have the SMR (Angel Portion) codec installed, un-install it.
Logo away is good at blocking out those logo's, or crop them out

Did you save as uncompressed video then ?, you never said if you selected any codec's..

  3. I saved the avi file using the MS-MPEG4 V3 (same compression that file was originally in) I also installed all my codecs via Nimo....is SMR one of them in there? It also plays fine in Windows Media Player, without that stupid wave or Angel Potion...just when i fill and resave the avi

SMR is not part of Nimo, but people download movies with the word SMR in its name, and then install the SMR codec.

Ok on the codec, I would think you would also need the DirecShow hack, Nimo gives that also. As M$ don't want people to use V3 for AVI only ASF, then when people do use it, Media player refuses to play it but that's not your problem as you can play.

However I would suggest you try a small save with another codec just incase... But check to see if SMR is on your system first

  5. Thanks for the help KingJohn...I ended up reinstalling NIMO and I read someplace that the Divx 4.12 Codec pack was linked to Angel Potion. I only installed the Divx 5.0 Codec pack via Nimo and everything seems to be peachy. Thanks again

It is another version of MPEG-4 V3, however if you re-install Nimo, it may have overwritten it. Glad you got it to work anyway.
