    Hi,
I want to buy DVD recorder and I´m thinking to buy Pioneer A04. Is it the right solution? Can this DVD recorder burn double sided DVD´s and if it can, how? How can I set the point in the video when the video has to continue on second layer (because there is 1 second pause between layers)?
    Thanks...

I think perhaps you're not entirely clear on the concept, here.

The double-sided DVD-R blanks you see for sale are not "dual-layer" discs. They are literally double-sided - i.e. you have to physically take the disc out of the drawer and flip it over to record (or play) the second side. There is currently no such thing as a dual-layer DVD-R recorder, nor a dual-layer blank disc... and honestly, I wouldn't expect to see such a beast any time soon. (I can't even conceive of how it would be possible, frankly - though that doesn't mean someone won't find a way to do it. )

So, the answer to your question is: when making your MPEG files in the video editor/encoding program of your choice, you find a good spot about halfway through the video and encode everything up to that point as "Side_One.MPG", and everything after it as "Side_Two.MPG". (How, exactly, you do this is left as an exercise to the reader, since I don't know what software you'll be using.) Then, you use your DVD burning program to burn "Side_One.MPG" onto the first side of the DVD-R blank, then flip the blank over and burn "Side_Two.MPG" onto the second side.
