  1. I have done everything to get rid of the jerky captures and still have problems. What I mean by jerky is when something moves accross the screen or the camera pans the motion is not smooth. I have tried every capture software there is. I just spent 3 days tweaking VirtualDub to no avail. I purchased and installed PicVideo and that didn't help either. I followed all of the How to's at this site concerning VirtualDub and the other capture programs. I also shut down everything that was running in the background. There must be some way to get past this. I thought Ulead VideoStudio was the culprit until I moved through different programs. Right now I am using my stand alone Pioneer DVR-7000 to record the first 2 hours of the movie onto DVD-RW so I can rip it to the hard drive and then go back for the last 10 minutes of the movie and do the same. Anything to avoid using the capture utilities.

    Here are my computer specs:
    Compaq Presario 8000
    Pentium 4 2ghz
    768mb Ram
    ATI AIW 8500DV Card

    What's next ??????????????

  3. What resolution you capture? If not Xx576 for PAL/Secam or Xx480 for NTSC, then it's normal - only half of fields is captured, what's when source isn't MOVIE is not enough for smooth movement.

  8. Hey Barnabas,
So after recording with VirtualDub I go to TMPG and set the field order to bottom first?

  9. For TMPGenc, you can find out the correct field order by letting the wizard test the field order. From then on, just use the same field order as the wizard came up with. I don't use the panasonic endoder, so don't know how to set the field order with it.
