  1. Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to make a svcd work like a dvd with regards to being able to stop a movie anytime I want and when I hit the play button it will play right where I left off. I did put in chapters.

    DVD- apex 1500
    Tools - tmpgenc- vcd easy

    Thanks for the help.

  2. In vcd easy under the options menu make sure use playback control is checked then you should be able to pause or ff and rw

  3. I did that and it will do as you said but I thought DVD players would be able to stop anywhere ( not pause) and you could start where you left off. I guess it also would be like a VHS tape.

    Thanks

once you press stop thats it you have to start on the closest chapter and ff . that goes for com. dvd's as well .

I'm not sure about Apex players but I have a Logix 3000 and if I power the machine off during playback of a SVCD it will automatically start from the same point when I power it on again.

  7. I have a apex 1500 ( the cheap one) and with a real dvd video I can press the stop button and when I press play again it is exactly where I left off. With my home made svcd's or vcd's I can't do that . I have to go to the nearests chapter.

    I am still puzzled.

  9. I thought it was possibly the way I made svcd's? I use the tmpgenc and vcd easy

    1) Encode to mpg2( From avi)
    2) Put in chapters
    3) Burn to disc

  10. My dvd's and vcd's both play from where they were stopped on my pioneer 636d. It also has a 5 disc memory. So you can stop a disc, eject it, play another disc, put the first disc back in and it will resume from where it left off.

  11. The feature is called Resume and because of the licence
cost - not all DVD players support this. Some Asian players included it
but did not pay for the privilage.

  12. It will " resume" with a purchased DVD but not with my homemade SVCD's.
I just thought I was making the SVCD with a step missing.

  13. When you create your vcd you must either turn off PBC or use a play list for the chapters instead of a selection.

It didn't help me. My VCDs still don't resume. But I know it works for a lot of people.
