lo all .. im a dab hand at makeing vcd's. but svcd's dont seem to like me.
i use smartripper to rip the movie. then dvd2avi to do the sounds.
then i use tmpgenc to make the svcd section.
now when i make a vcd the screen on tmpgenc shows u the film as it encodes it. but when i use svcd the screen stays black and when i play the rip at the end the sound is there but no picture..
i set to svcd.pal template then change it to 2 pass vbr.
and tried on normal and highest motion precision search. but with the same results..
ive tried this on 3 differnt films and they all come out the same..
can anyone shed any light on this probelm as its driveing me nuts ...
thanks in advance ....

Does it stay black the entire time or does the preview start at %50? When using 2-pass vbr the first half of the process is just scanning the file, no enocding is actually done so there is nothing to preview. At %50 you should start seeing the preview.
Do you have an mpeg2 codec installed? If you don't know than the answer is probably no. This is why you aren't seeing any picture. You can install an mpeg2 codec by installing any software dvd player, even a trial version or you can get a codec from the tools section of this site.
You Svcds are probably fine, your pc just doesnt have the necessary software to play them. -
Try the settings here:
