  1. I am trying to do capture using a Hauppauge WinTV BT8x8 based card, SB Live on VIA based MB. Apparently there are known problems with this type of card, the SB live on VIA based MB's causing audio interference etc during capture. I am experiencing this problem. Just wonding if anybody had this problem and what did you do?

Suggestions have been to download the latest 4in1 drivers from VIA, apply the VIA PCI Latency patches or get a Turtle Beach SC! I have tried some of the software patches to no avail, might have to get the TB

  2. I did have a similar setup earlier, using a via apollo chipset.
Tried updated drivers and different install settings. I would always get a lot of dropped frames. In the end I found that reducing the audio sampling rate from the sound card and no compression on audio was the only way to get a clean capture.
I have now changed to an intel chipset board and I can now run full steam.
    Dont know if this helps.

Which VIA chipset? There are lots and not all have problems.
Have you tried the PCI latency patches? http://www.networking.tzo.com/net/software/

I'm on a KT333 using a WinTV dbx, SB Live value, win98se system and not having any problems.

  4. I have a Soyo K7VTA Pro and a Sound Blaster Live with no problems. Did you download the newest sound blaster live driver for XP?
Not only am I perfect but I'm Canadian too!

  5. Asus A7V333, Soundblaster live 5.1, windows xp, also no problems.

The earlier Via chipsets used to give me a whole range of problems (none of which had to do with capturing but problems nonetheless), but I haven't found any with this new motherboard. Good luck.

Whatever is in the ASUS A7V266EX - I think it's the KT266 chipset. Yes I did download the latest SB Live drivers from Creative's web site

Maybe it's the KT266 chipset? No problem with sound per se, that seems to be okay, problems with capture and sound

KT266, SB Live, XP - plenty of problems. I also did apply the latency patches but they didn't help since I actually don't have problems with sound - only simultaneous capture and sound

Hmm - I have a NIC on the same IRQ as the SB Live! But it's not changeable unless presumably I go into the BIOS and change that slot to be legacy rather than PnP? I did try disably the NIC and doing capture - no difference. Maybe it's a XP or Hauppauge WDM drivers problem?

Try moving the SB Live! to different slots.
If that doesn't help try with the WinTV.

  11. got the same problem too.. i got:

    ECS K7VZA (KT133)
    SBLive! Value

Ended up changing my soundcard to a cheapo AOpen AW-840 everything works fine now no freezing or lock-ups like it used too it may not be the best soundcard(some crackling sound in some games) but its working nonetheless.. i can live with this better this than using first generation onboard sound that comes with my mobo... though that should work too its just too much crackling even only on windows startup.. hope this helps..

Been there done that. Tried most of the slots for both the SB and the WinTV. This is getting to be a headache
