  1. I was wondering how I would go about combining chapters all into 1 chapter because for some reason this movie I have keeps going back to the main menu after each chapter and i have to manually punch in the chapter.

Is there a way to combine all the chapters into 1 chapter so this problem would not happen anymore? Its just this certain movie thats making it happen too, quite odd.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. VCD Chapter Frustration...

Let's see if I understand you...

    1) You have one movie on the VCD
    2) The VCD was encoded with chapters and a main menu
    3) Whenever you play the VCD it returns to the main menu rather than moving from chapter to chapter
    4) This happens no matter what chapter of the movie you start playing

Correct? OK, this is likely one of two things... Your DVD player (I assume you are using a standalone) does not properly support PBC (Playback Control) on VCDs. Or, you made a mistake when authoring the menus and PBC for each chapter on your VCDs. Of these, I think your problem is likely the latter.

Try authoring your VCD once more using VCDEasy. Use the tutorials found on this site to make your way through the (S)VCD | Interactivity section of VCDEasy. Make sure the then on timeout section points to the next segment selection rather than the main menu for each portion of a chapter. Also make sure the Previous, Next, Return and Default button actions are assigned properly for each chapter, to move from segment to segment seamlessly, rather than branching back to the main menu.

If you want to make sure you don't have any problems at all with chapters, simply burn the VCD without PBC, Chapters or a main menu. That way your single video file will play through to completion. I hope this helps!

[NOTE: If you used VCDEasy for chapters earlier, but copied the same data (play once, return to menu) to each chapter of your video segment, that would also cause your error. You should probably only set only the LAST chapter of your video return to the main menu after playing.]

  3. thanks for the good reply, i will try it out tomorrow. i got the apex 1200 and it plays everything else fine, just that movie, kinda wierd. Ill try to put it on vcdeasy and do the options like you said and hopefully it will work. I wouldnt mind taking away the main menu and chapters junk because I never really use it.

    Ill report back tomorrow

    thanks again!

  4. Chapters with VCDEasy

Sefy's Complete Newbie DVD Backup Guide v2.0 offers the following tutorial on using VCDEasy to create and edit chapters:

    Author that MPG! - VCDEasy

It is a good idea to check out gonz0's guide too:

How to create VCD menus and chapters with VCDEasy

Remember, the same principles shown in each guide can be applied to your project no matter the length or number of MPEG-1 files you are burning to VCD.
