  1. Hi! I'm a newbie to DVD rips and have a question I was hoping someone could answer in regards to the resolution displayed by DVD2AVI.

I've done a few rips using SmartRipper of some PAL DVD's I own; specifically Shrek, Pulp Fiction, SW EP 1 and Speed SE. Now SmartRipper shows the resolution to be the normal PAL DVD resulotion of 720 x 576. However when I open the vob files in DVD2AVI it shows the resoltion (in the top bar) to be 720 x 432. I'm curious as to why this is so, is it normal for PAL movies? If it's not, then what might I be doing incorrectly? All the DVD2AVI screen shots I've seen on the web are for NTSC movies and display the correct NTSC res of 720 x 480.

Apologies if this has been covered before in the forum, I've done a search and could not find any previous post that covered this question.

720x432 is not a valid dvd resolution. Check the video options, whether you enabled clip frame. Which dvd2avi version do you use?

  3. You need to go to the Video menu of DVD2AVI, open the "Clipping and Resizing" menu, and press the "Reset" button. That will put it back to the standard size.

  4. HI Truman, I'm using version 1.76

Hi VidGuy, I followed your instructions and it worked beautifully! As soon as I clicked on "reset" the resolution changed to 720 x 576. Thank you!
