  1. Hi guys, I tried to reencoding divx movie to svcd with tmpgenc 2.57 all works fine except that i chose 1950 vbr template min 800 max 2500 128kbps audio as in divx

    encoding is fine- all perfect but file is 1.66gb..

    in other words cant seem to fit it on 2 cdrs
    tried 1850 vbr came out to 1.62 or so-still noot good

    I know i should be able to push it to at least 2000vbr for 93 min and fit it on 2 cds- movie is full screen -yet when tmpg estimates the size of the movies it says about 1.4gb not 1.67gb!!

    what gives? What should i do to dcrease the file size so i can fir the movie on 2 cds

    Thxn a lot!

    2x 80 min cd-r can hold 1600mb in mode2 (VCD/SVCD standard)
    80min = [700mb in mode 1 data] [800mb mode 2]

  3. Hey
    Yeah i know that, but my problem is reducing the size of the movie to something like 1.55gb or so while maintaining 1800+ vbr. The movie is ntsc full screen and 93 minutes long - now i dont have any idea why would tmpg make it 1.66gb with 1950 vbr encode. It should be around 1.4 gb as it reports in the window in the last step but instead it pumps it up by additonal 260 mb- what gives? When I try 1850

    It's definitely possible to fit anything under 100 min on 2 80 min cds. I just dont understand what tmpg is doing. 1850vbr gives me around 1.63 gb file....

    Pls help

  5. Remove the intros and the credits at the end...that can sometimes be a good 5 minutes of video.

    Sounds like you are trying to do the impossible. The amount of discs used is governed by the average bitrate you choose, so you need a smaller movie, bigger/more discs, or a reduced bitrate.

    You would be better off using the project manager and 2-pass VBR, which will allow you to damn near exactly fill your discs using the highest bitrate possible. TMPG's bitrate calculator is pretty good.
