I am trying to use the MPEG Tools in TMPGenc. I can select and add my video file without any problem, but when I click to "edit" it an error pops up with some gibberish and then says there is a problem with directshow. When I click the messages away, the edit screen is there but there is no picture anywhere and the slide bar on the bottom does nothing. Thus making an attempt to cut the files impossible.

I have tried searching for an answer in the forum but haven't had luck yet so any help would be great. If anyone has any other tools the would recommend using that would allow me to see the video and select roughly where I want to cut it then that could work to.

Have you tried Virtual Dub, or a trial version of one of the ULead products? They all do nice editing jobs, right down to the frame.

    Try this'

    TMPGEnc
    Select options > environmental settings
    click the VFAPI plug-in tab
right click the "DirectShow" and select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4

I tried VirtualDub and also had errors with it .. so maybe the mpg I'm working with is not in the right format.

I am using DVD2SVCD to create an SVCD with the options not to delete any files - and it uses TMPGenc to encode the movie. I have let it run on a movie, but wish to cut out part of the second mpg file created. I am using the mpg created after bbMPEG runs and muxes the audio and video together. The file runs fine in all of my SVCD and media players. Is there one more step I need to do to the file in order to make these cutting programs (i.e. VirtualDub or TMPGenc MPEG Tools) recognize it as a legitimate MPEG2 file? Or has it already been converted to SVCD format by this time?

TMPGEnc Select options > environmental settings
    click the VFAPI plug-in tab
right click the "DirectShow" and select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4

Are you using TMPGEnc Plus (The new one) and what Mpeg 2 codec have you installed ? DirectShow can use all sorts of codec's, but not many work well with TMPGEnc.

TMPGEnc recommend codec's that are installed with programs like CyberLink (PowerDVD 4), Ligos and, Sony
