    I tried a DVD backup assuming it was NTSC film, using 3:2 pulldown. The results were horrible - jerkiness during motion scenes. I bet a strait 29.9 fps encode interlaced would look better... Most DVD ripping guides mention the 3:2 pulldown however. How do you know when the source is NTSC film or NTSC video? Can DVD2AVI help here? IFOedit?

    If you view the VOB file in DVD2AVI, the statistics window will tell you at the top.
    "FILM"
    "NTSC"
    "Interlaced"
    "Progressive"

    If it says FILM for more than about 90-95% of the time, then do a 3:2 pulldown.
