i'm using smartripper to rip and dvd2avi to get audio
my problem is that in tmpgenc, when i try to open the *.d2v file it says
"File cannot be opened, or unsupported.
I have tried increasing the priority of the d2v file in environment. It still DOESN"T work
Please help

You need the right codec for opening this. try installing WinDVD or Cyberlink PowerDVD.
-
When you use dvd2avi "Save Project" and give it a"Name". You will then get your audio and a "Name".dv2 file. This is the file you use in TMPenc. The dv2 file you get from Smartripper will not work.

i have tried all that cyberlink codec and windvd codec
i have also tried saving the name of the file in dvd2avi prg.
for some reason smartripper DOES NOT create d2v file
any other ideas? -
You do not need any codec to open a .d2v in TMPG. All you need is a dvd2avi.vfp and Tmpgenc.vfp (VFAPI plugins).
DVD2AVI.exe and DVD2AVI.vfp are in the same dir and tmpgenc.exe and tmpgenc.vfp are in the same dir. DVD2AVI.vfp is selfregistering, to register Tmpgenc.vfp doubleclick on tmpgencvfp_install.bat. Also select in Tmpgenc > option and check "Register Tmpgenc.vfp to VFAPI".
Do not delete the .vob files. Do not move the .vob files and the .d2v unless you want to edit the .d2v manually. -
I've done all of that. I still have the problem. The dvd2avi files are all in the same directory. Any other suggestions. I am willing to trry anything.!

with respect.
forget all the crap you've been told. The easiest solution is to go to the dvd2avi authors web site and get the wrapper program.
this program takes a vdr or d2v file and creates a small avi, which any encoder can read basically.
however, it doesn't work with d2v files made by smart rip (last time i checked) so you'll need to run you ripped vobs through dvd2avi and save project (about 40 mins).
doing it this way also means you can use the cinemacraft encoder if you have it, save half the time over tmpeg. -
with all respect scissors, not to mention, that this is an useless extra step, the VFAPI plugins of dvd2avi and TMPG must be registered properly as well. Otherwise VFAPIconv (the wrapper program) will refuse to work.

You should check the size of the d2v file because tmpgenc will not susport a d2v file over 4gb.I the d2v file is to big you will have to spilt the file

There are quite a few versions of DVD2AVI around. I had the same problem and it turns out that TMPGenc can't read all DVD2AVI project files out there. I suggest you download all versions of DVD2AVI from www.doom9.org and copy DVD2AVI.vfp from each version of DVD2AVI in TMPGEnc directory in turn until you get one to work.

Hi
I tried PhArAoH's idea of copying the VFP file from other versions and worked fine for me
