  1. Hello,

I have been using Nero for burning VCDs and I have not seen this message until recently.

I get it maybe 1 out of 3 times when Im copying a VCD. It says that there was 1 buffer under run error.

But the VCD plays fine....my question is does this truly effect the outcome of the VCD?

    Thanks!

That's a message from your burner that it ran out of data to read or write.
If you have underrun protection on your burner make sure that it is ticked. In that case you can ignore it if its only telling you what it prevented from happening. If you don't have protection it could be a little more serious (dropped data). In that case, adjust your burning speed usually downward but occasionally it could be caused by the write buffer which can't keep up so you should increase speed.

Other possible causes have to do with a need to defrag your HD since your data is fragmented all over your HD and it takes longer to read. This is a good practice for those who do data cap or any kind of intensive processing. Defrag your HD once in a while.

Another workaround is to create an image file first and then burn That.

I don't recommend that for you but this post may be read by others who have a more serious problem.

  3. Thanks for the response.

Your right when the error occurs it says that it prevented from happening.
So does this mean the VCD is alright? It plays fine.

How do I know if my burner has underrun protection...my burner came bundled with the comp.

    Thanks!

That tells me you have that option. Just before you burn there should be an option showing to click it on or off. Yours is obviously on.
Yes that means your VCD is alright since your buffer protection worked.
