  1. I have captured DV from a camcorder through firewire and have a decent quality AVI at 25 fps. When I convert to MPEG1 the result is really crappy & blocky. I convert at 352x288 frame size.
I have tried Adobe Premiere 6, Video Studio 6 and AVI2VCD but the compression seems to be at about 80:1 with no way of changing these settings.
Does anyone know how to get better results ?
Oops upside ya head, I say oops upside ya head !

  2. You could give tmpgenc a shot, more info is in the "how to convert" section.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  5. SVCD is the way to go, process your avi in TMPGENC with the SVCD template. I got better results by de-interlacing also this makes My SVCDs look much smoother & sharper, hardly any blockiness & the horrible fast motion `dragging effect` is now gone (Does anybody know why ?)
