  1. I have a short intro clip that is played before my scene selection menu comes up on my SVCD. When I play the SVCD on my computer, everything is fine. But when I play it on my stand alone DVD player(Hyundai), it is cropped and I loose some of the video on each side of the intro mpeg only.

I used VCDEasy to create the SVCD.

Most likely reason is TV overscan. You lose part of everything on TV because they overscan.
May the force be with you.

  3. Do a search on these forums for that very term:

    overscan

and you'll get lots of hits
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

Since its only your intro, did you make that > full screen keep aspect ratio, sounds like you made it full screen, which will increase the size of the frame, loosing part of the image.

  5. Thanks for all the help. I will encode the original mpeg one more time, this time trying a different setting within TMPGenc to compensate for the overscan.
