convert Avi ( uncompressed ) to divx

OK ; I know this might be a stupid question ; but please listen
I installed the divx 4 codec , and I could use virtualdub to convert my avi captured videos from my digital camera OK to divx in the past .

Now I installed the new divx 5 pack ; and the divx codec dissapeared from virtualdub ! I tried to find a way to manually install it to no avail. I also removed all the div x codecs ( from add remove and then manually remove all the references in the registry about them ) and then reinstalled them ( tried with 5 and 4 ) and still no go ... Virtualdub would not display the divx codec anymore when you go video-compression.

any comment appreciated...

I think the DivX 5 codec has an option to create an mpeg-4 (divx 4) file
