If in the specs of a player it shows VCD compt. does that mean it will also play SVCD ? or does it have to actually have to say that ...

The "VCD" in the specs column means it will pay store-bought VCDs. If it says "CDR", then it should play home made VCDs. It is best to read what the comments say before you decide. It si the best way to determine what a particular player will do.

did you review the compatibility list on the left of this site (if it is available) and how about telling us what dvd player you are asking will play and those people that have that dvd player can tell you. Or do a search by dvd player and see what owners of your dvd player say from their comments in the forum.

yeah i used the search function and found some mostly a JVC but when u go the JVC website or Crutchfield to check out the actual specs of the player it dosent fully match whats on this site...
