VCD Playback on DVD Player Freezing up! Help!

I can burn VCD and get it to start playing on my RCA DVD player but after a few seconds it freezes up and then it jumps 20 minutes or so into the movie. and continues to do this until it freezes up completley. I have tried different formats, Pal, Ncts, ect... I have also tried burning with Easy VCD on 1.1 and 2.0 and also tried DVD Movie Factory and Nero. Does anyone know what the problem is? Is it my DVD Player? The Media Type? This is driving me crazy. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

So Many Reasons...

It is probably something to do with your DVD player. The lens may be dirty. The player may be too old. The player may not like non-standard VCD. The player may not like your media. Check the compatibility notes for your DVD player on this site.

Check to see if the same VCDs play well in someone else's DVD player. VCDs I make have similar problems on my Brother's SAMSUNG standalone. The same discs play fine on PC, my Dreamcast, an AUDIOVOX DVD portable and my other Brother's SONY standalone.

It can be the video file itself. You may have chosen the wrong field order for your MPEG-1 encode. The audio track may be at an incompatible frequency (44.1 KHz vs 44.8 KHz) for your player. The video bit rate may be too high or too low. There is really no way we can answer your question because there are so many variables. Just follow the guides, experiment with short clips and make notes of your own processes, each option you change as you go along, the file you encoded and the result on your player.
