I downloaded the LOGO filter for VirtualDub, but I don't think this is the answer. Also couldn't work out how to use it.

When i tried to save the file, hopefully with the filter active, I received a warning about saving an uncompressed file.

Is there an easy way to save the AVI file with the original compression setiings

    Thanks

Mainly I want to remove the subtitles

As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. i don´t now how to remove subs "muxed" with an avi (video stream) that is like a stamp.

to save a avi file with yours changes you must set
video - full processing if you change video
audio - full processing if you change audio
then compression ( in video or/and audio) to setting the codecs
only then you can save the file

I think you need to work out how Logo Away works, if you have it in the filter directory it will automatically be available for use.

Filter > Add > Logo away

Change it to the black square so you can spot it in the preview, then move the X/Y until its over the Logo/Sub, then switch the black off and use the others to see which is best.

After you have set it, you need to save the AVI in full processing mode, might as well use uncompressed, because if you use the same codec to compress it back, Vdub will need to uncompress apply the logo away then re-compress before saving. Although that’s fairly fast

However if the subs are very large then forget it, you will have to apply the filter to all frames not just the ones with text on. If the subs are right at the bottom you could use crop instead..

  5. The easiest way is to letterbox your movie (put black bars at the top & bottom). If the subtitles are at the very bottom of the screen, this works well. And with the black at both the top and bottom it looks like a widescreen movie. This may not be an option if it cuts too much off the scenes.

If you use LogoAway it sort of smears the area where the subtitles were. If you use DeLogo it takes a lot of mucking with image editors to make it work right, and it's really more appropriate for those tranparent-type stationary logos TV stations use.
