  1. Someone please explain to me why Production VCD blanks are not available to the public. I'm not happy that DVD players cannot play home made VCDs [period]. Tell me, when you record your favourite audio album, does that not work in your Tape deck? Or when you record your 18th Birthday movie, does that not work in your Video player? We all know the answer - "YES". So why the hell do we (atleast me anyway) have to "faf" around getting the right player, right burner, right burning s/ware, right VCD blanks....

Because of being in this prediciment, I have to buy another DVD player. I'm thinking of going for the Pioneer DV444 as I read good reviews for it. Thats another £180 (Sterling) I have to fork out. Having said this, I did read somewhere that even this player is not 100% perfect when it comes down to compatibility.

Oh well thats my steam let-off.

PS: Thumbs up to everyone here who help misserable b*******s like me. You do a great job

  2. The Pioneer 343 is cheaper and plays almost anything... Anyway, what is a "Production VCD blank"?

  3. Retail VCDs are pressed (just like retail DVDs or retail music CDs), not burned on recordable media. In fact, many DVD players will play home-burned VCDs, especially the least expensive players. For instance, most Apex DVD players will practically play your old shoe, if you can wedge it in the tray.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
