  1. I just downloaded the latest version of Nero, to my new computer using Windows XP Pro. When I try to burn a vcd now Nero messed up with the encoding. When I try burning a vcd from a divx file this happens: After burning aproximatly 60 % I get an error messege saying something like : Mpeg encoding procces failed/error, and the encoding is aborted, any idea what this might be?

I tried using Nero Express to, same thing

Tried using an older version of Nero, same thing.

    Is it something with XP

Maybe a bad divx, have you tried with another divx?
    Try repair it www.vcdhelp.com/faq#fixdivx
    or
Use tmpgenc to encode to vcd

Don't let Nero do any conversion, its not very good Your AVI has probably got some bad frames, you need to load it into Vdub to remove them.

Video > Scan video stream for errors
    When its finished
Switch Audio and Video to > "direct stream copy" and save out another AVI movie2.avi

If vdub gives you problems during the scan use "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe" which is more stable. This makes a log of the bad frames at c:\badframes.log which you can use to delete the bad frames (highest first) at keyframes.

Then use TMPGEnc to convert to mpeg1, with a VCD template. The output will then be ok for Nero.
