  1. I have a Panasonic DVD-RP56 which says it plays VCD's (not SVCD's specifically) and I have had some luck with SVCD's playing in them. Now however, all I get is a 'stuttered' movie. If I use the fast forward button, it looks a bit better but the sound is not in sync. I can play this cd in my computer DVD player but the quality does not appear to be good although it is not as bad as my standalone player
Any clues about what I could do would be appreciated.
I prefer mpeg2 files since they are cleaner

It will have about the same quality as the source. ie bad source ,bad SVCD; good source, good SVCD

You could try getting a new dvd software for your computer like Windvd or Power dvd (the newest version). You can download trial versions to see if it makes a difference on the quality. If you want to play your SVCD's on a standalone I would get a new dvd player that supports SVCD. I have an Apex. Its cheap and it plays everything

  3. Most Panasonic players can be persuaded to play SVCD's using the 'TmpGenc simple multiplex' tric. Search the forum for info on how to do this. (No Guarantees it will work on your particular player tho!)
