    Does anybody knows if there is any firmware to make the Pioneer DVR-104 region free. I installed the latest firmware (v. 1.20) and it didn't affect the region at all. In fact, it locked my drive on region 2 and most of the movies I watch are in region 1. On top of that, I can't change the region, although I am supposed to have 4 chances left....

    Please help!

    I didn't think that it was the drive that was locked, I thought it was down to software used to view the DVD. Have you tried getting hold of a region selector? It's how I got over mine.

    there is a region free upgrade there.
    but you'll need to flash your pioneer in dos mode.
