  1. i have an mpg2 file that has been copied from an svcd. vcdimager (or any other tools in its package) will not accept the file as a valid mpeg-2 file. what process has to be done to this file to make it acceptable as input to vcdimager?

i am assuming that there is extra padding in the file that needs to be stripped out, since burned svcd mpgs are always bigger. what tool will do this? are there any command-line tools to do this for win32?

    thanks for any info

Extract the "pure" MPEG with vcdxrip. Create a new SVCD image with vcdxbuild. Burn the image with CDRDAO or CDRWin.

  3. I believe vcdxrip only extracts from the CD or a bin/cue. i have neither, just the mpeg. With vcdxrip, i tried to use the mpeg as a parameter, but it just displayed the usage to me.

I finally used the tmpg "cut" tool to cut the entire clip and then vcdxbuild accepted the new file (which was about 10 megs smaller). i still would prefer if there were a way to do it from the command line. i'll see if i can't get vcdxrip to somehow do that. please let me know if you know how to do it. thanks

Sorry, I jumped the gun. To remove the RIFF headers try cdxa2mpeg.exe (vcdimager package) or vcdgear instead.

  5. yes, i just noticed that cdxa2mpeg last nite after i replied to your message. i have all my command-line apps in one folder, and i overlooked that program because i was looking for vcd*.exe. i'll try using it in a little while.

i should have mentioned that i did try to use vcdgear's console mpg2mpg mode and it produced an mpeg that would still not be accepted by vcdimager/vcdxbuild.

i'll let you know what happens with cdxa2mpeg.
