  1. the apex 1500 is a good dvd player that plays almost anything you throw at it mp3s, svcd vcd dvd etc. however when i download svcd movies burn them to a cdr blank at times the player door wont open or close you really have to play with it to get it open whether its done manually or with remote. also it wont play the svcd right away you have to keep fidgeting with controls before it finally plays. now this might be problem im using staples cdrs to burn 700mg 80 min when i change cdrs ill give an update but until then is there anyone out there incurring the same difficulties i am having ? pre recorded dvd movies from the stores give me no problems

alright-I ordered this player and returned it because the tray wouldn't open right-and the next one didn't so I sent that back-and got a third that didn't open (the company had a no money-back thing where they wouldn't refund my money). So I opened up the third unit-and sure enough, the way that the tray is designed, the back end pushes up too high and jams against the top of the tray opening. Well, needless to say the thing is in peices and I am perfomring surgery on it to get the door to work-the wonders of "all sales are final"
    End of Line.

  3. so i guess im not the only one with problem the reason i hold back on returning it because it has good qualities such as playing the svcds i burn and i dont want to start shopping around for players that play svcds oor vcds i could end up buying and returning for months unless anyone knows a player that can perform like the apex 1500 as far as playing anything but doesnt have the open and close door problem im having with apex 1500

I have the Apex1500 as well and can verify the door problem. It seems to be a design issue as mentioned above... I had to return the first one as well until I got a unit that worked... guy at CC mentioned that a lot of this model comes back for this same reason...

... I love the unit... it was easy to flash the code to disable macrovision and region limits.... the picture quality is good..

only problem I have, and maybe others can verify, is that when I get to around the 40 minute mark of a vcd, i get a LOT of breakup in the picture... green blocks and choppy sound.... I don't know if this is a problem with the player or the discs.... DVD's play just fine in it, and I get the breakup problem with every VCD i have tried....
