Hey boboyo,
I cannot offer you much advice im sorry,
but I can tell you that i use 700mb 80 minute cdrs. They have a max of about 700mb (without overburning). I used to use old 650mb 74 minute cdrs before the 80 minute cdrs came out. I think you need to work out exactly how much these 99 minute cdr's can hold in Mb's as 99 minutes does not equal 990mb just like 80 minute cdrs = 700mb.
I have never used 99 minute cdr's although I am Very Interested in were you can buy them, what make the are and also if they will work with a standard cdr burner??
I own a LG GCE-8160-B does anyone know if i can use these 99mb cdr's with it?
Sorry if the above sounds confusing its kinda hard to explain as i dont know exactly how much a 99minute cdr is worth in mb's.

bobby - as far as vcd goes - you can fit 800meg mpegs on an 80 min cdr even though its only a 700meg cdr! (this is without overburning)
it works out 10 megs per minute of cdr with vcds
i thought this would be the same with 900meg 99min cdrs but maybe not
as for where to get them - try www.microdirect.co.uk (25 for £11.75)
my burner is an lg (i think its the same as yours) & can write them at x4 speed but if u wanna check i think theres a compatibility list on this site somewhere! -
80min (703Mb mode1) (800Mb mode2) media can hold 80 min of vcd play time and
99min media (860Mb mode1) (990Mb mode2) holds 99 min if burned i mode2 (VCD standard)ChRaN :-) -
Bobby, Your burner supports overburning, 90 minute CD-R's and 99 minute CD-R's.
You should find it here:

thanks for the reply but the minute scale does not change if i have standard copliance checked or not in nero
can you help further?
should the 980 min mpeg burn to 99min media no probs? coz sometimes it gets to 99 mins & then errors!...maybe ill try a few with standard compliance checked -
For VCD and SVCD burning only not data you can fit 795MB on one 80min. CD-R. On the 99min. CD-R's I have burned about 100 of them I easily get 965MB on one I usually stay between 950 and 965MB on them and have no problem with them. Keep in mind a lot of the DVD players out there will not play them like Panasonic and toshiba, APEX and Daewoo have no problems playing them. If you burn 99min. CD-R's with over 850MB of VCD or SVCD Data you can never copy that information off from that CD-R again, why I have no idea but it will not.
CompUSA use to sell them at $9.99 for a 16 pack, when I heard they were no longer gonna carry them here in Phoenix I bought up what I could, I now have 8 packs of 16 left. Hardly ever use them now since I bought 2 Home DVD Recorders. -
thxkid are you saying that it isnt worth using 99 minute cdrs?
Surely if i make an iso of the cd i can copy it to another 99 minute cdr?
My plan is to make copies of dvds to 2 99 minute cdr movies using the cvd format. At the moment im using 3 80 minute cdrs for my cvd's but i would glady lower the bitrate and fit them onto 2 99 minute discs!! But not if i cannot make copies of them
Any ideas?
Thanx.
