I would like to email 49 MB video clips, about 15 minutes playing time. But most of web site has a limit of free email up to 10MB. Do you know any free email website or program that enable to email the video clips more than 10 MB?

  2. Is there a reason you are limited to email?

One option is to use free hosting sites, e.g. mediafire.com, sendspace.com, rapidshare.com, megaupload.com ..... many others. Then the recipients can download at their leisure

If somebody successfully e-mailed me a 50MB attachment, I'd be tempted to drive to their house and kick their ass. That will bottleneck most POP servers, and it could cause other mail to bounce.

Stick a big file on an FTP, and then send out the URL in e-mail. Most all ISPs give out some free space.

find a hosting site, upload it there, and email the url of the hosted video. the recipient can then choose to download it or not.

I email video clips for individual reviewing but rather sharing in public. If I upload the file to the hosting site such as the mediefire.com, will everyone be able to see it? The popular Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail etc have the limits of the attachment.

    just read their faq's
The files you upload to MediaFire are not publicly accessible and can only be downloaded if you choose to share them with others by giving them a sharing URL.

You also have the ability to make any and/or all of your files private or password protected at any time to provide an extra layer of security for confidential and/or sensitive files.
forget attachments...this way, you only include a link in your email like below

I'm like lordsmurf. If someone jammed up my e-mail box with a file so large, they'd be enemies for life. Be considerate of others. Like aedipuss suggested, it's better to upload to a video hosting site, then simply e-mail the link.

I have a follow up question. Is there any hosting site that allows viewing the uploaded files only but no downloading allowed?

Er... go educate yourself online or do an "introduction to computers" or the good book set one of which is "web for dummies" - how to you think you're viewing it without downloading it ?

Unless you're thinking of embedded flash-player videos like some pron (google it) sites have, so I'm told.

    Umm... yes?

For your computer to be able to render anything from a remote source, whether that source is a webpage, a video, or whatever, it has to have a copy of that source to work from. So, it downloads a copy and renders or plays the file.

What you're asking is whether or not any of those sources keep a copy of the video on the remote computer once it's done.

However, even if they don't save a copy in the browser cache, or just views the video like YouTube, anyone could still probably figure out how to save their own copies just by reading posts here on VH.

You started this thread asking how to send them a copy of the video and now you're concerned about them downloading it?

omg - another clueless human. computers don't view anything "online". when you wish to "view" a page they request the page code be sent to them so they can interpret it when it's on your hard drive. then they open the code and run/display it. that's why whenever you click on links to nasty things they are installed on your computer. whether you want them or not.

and it's learn not "leann". don't try to teach what you don't know a thing about.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have a vague loose idea how it works given I'm in the industry.

You're on track with the questioning but seem to be missing a concept or two... the suggestions were serious ones; the "??? for dummies" are good books and I've had access to them and have recommended them to others - it wasn't a slag off.

If you have an ISP like Comcast that gives free websites you can just upload it there and have them download it.
I don't know exactly what their limit is but I just recently sent up some files over 60 meg for someone to download.

Your head must be a bloody flattened mess by now, reminiscent of frankenstein's. You joined in Jan 2005 (circa 4 years ago) and haven't got the basic concepts ? I'm flabergasted. Keep trying hard, you'll get it.
