  1. i have been zsearching this forum for many days now but cant seem to find the answer im looking for

i have an alba dvd114 £90 from argos plays everything fine except svcd,s
now the funny thing is it reads it as a super vcd and it displays it as a svcd in the lcd display on the front it even plays them with a perfect picture but no sound whatsoever which is what i cant understand

now is there a way round this when i press audio on the remote it states audio unknown can anyone tell me why and how i can rectify this i have spoken to alba direct and they couldnt give me a straight answer surprise surprise

i have reburned the svcd,s to vcd and most play but the latest 2 i have got evolution and snatch both the first disks play okay but both the second disks the sound goes out of second by about a second and a half

any tricks or advice in rectifying this problem very greatly appreciated

  2. Some DVD players that cannot play SVCD's can be tricked into doing so by changing the mpg file header to match normal VCD spec. This is done using TmpGenc->Mpeg Tools-> Simple multiplex (search the forums for more info on this). Just a thought but this might solve your problem, tricking your player into thinking the SVCD's are VCD's might be a workaround, give it a try.

  4. Now i am getting pissed off!!!

I've just got back from tesco's where i returned my Dalsai DVD952 because it didnt play VCD's or SVCD's and exchanged it for the Alba.......suprise suprise...it wont play the audio on SVCD even tho, as stated above, it has SVCD on the LCD Display, the screen says svcd, the picture is perfect and so on...

WHAT THE NGGGNNNNN!">!!?!??!?! Dont make me take this one back aswell....

Also my VCD's play in a very squished up frame exactly like when i used to play american pirate playstation games through my action replay chip.....how bizarre....
